A couple of hours is certainly not enough to discover the heritage of Turin. However, for those who have never been here before, it's a great way to get up close and personal with the main attractions of the old town and capture the essence of a city many call "Little Paris."

The tour begins in Piazza Castello and continues through the most beautiful Baroque squares, such as Piazza Carignano and Piazza Carlo Alberto. We'll travel back in time to the 17th and 18th centuries, when Turin became the capital of the Duchy of Savoy and began an architectural revolution that transformed the city into a modern Baroque capital.

This unconventional guided tour of Turin begins in one of the city's most elegant squares aiming at exploring the city's major culinary, wine, artistic, and design innovations. While discovering the historic center's Roman and Baroque heritage, it will help you understand the main cultural attractions of Italy's first capital.

We'll spot together the installations hidden in the urban landscape, the numerous art galleries, and the key concept-stores that have cemented Turin's role as the first capital of fashion and design. During our tour we'll have the opportunity to sample some local delicacies and enjoy a glass of fine Piedmontese wine.

ART NOUVEAU IN TURIN

Tour aimed at discovering why Turin is the Italian capital of Art Nouveau

Having been an industrial hub, Turin birthed a new social class in the late 19th century, commonly known as the "bourgeoisie."

Among the many places dotted with Liberty architectures (the Italian name for Art Nouveau), I've chosen the hilly route for you where you'll admire villas and palaces designed to stylishly display wealth, with iconic curved lines decorating facades and windows. Dragons and fantastical beasts populate the facades of the buildings, as do the stone-cement decorations, while steel flowers and bold coverings adorn the railings, the windows, and balconies. The numerous bay windows defy gravity and invite you to peek inside.
